The focus of a school-based speech-language pathologist is to promote the development of effective and efficient communication skills, in the areas of listening, speaking, reading, and writing, so that students may participate as fully as possible in educational and social interactions. Working as members of school-based teams, the speech-language pathologist participates in the prevention, identification,
assessment, evaluation, eligibility determination, Individualized Education Plan development, and intervention of those students with disorders in the areas of speech and/or language.
